buh-duh-duh-duh-duh, another one bites the dust

Yesterday I learned that the yarn shop where my knitting first came together is closing its doors just before Christmas. Several years ago, along with LYLASarah and our friend, Becky, and I took a few classes at Angel Hair Yarn Co. in Green Hills (Nashville). Around the table in the back we learned the basic knit stitch and started on our first scarves. My chunky green Rowan scarf is still my favorite handknit neckwear.

Before that class I had taken a few stabs at teaching myself from a book. But things just didn't come together for me. I thought it would be a good idea to take a beginning knitter's class at Angel Hair and see if I could figure it out. I remember the "a'ha moment" that came during the first session of this class. Actually, it was much more of an "A'HA!!!!!!!! moment". Something clicked and I saw the needles, the yarn, the stitches, my fingers and hands working as one knitting machine. I even let out an, "OH!! I've got it!!!!". Whatever I had been getting wrong before no longer existed. And I was knitting. I finished my scarf - my favorite scarf.

I have yet to learn how :( I've tried to teach myself too. Thinking I'll take a class here in BG at some time.
