birthday yarn

My sleep patterns have gotten off kilt while I’ve been on medical leave. I was in the midst of writing this post last night/early this morning when Derby began scratching on my leg. That's usually an indication that he needs to go outside. And in the midst of all of that my left foot - that is still affected by some nerve damage, from a ruptured disc and two other herniated discs, and inflammation from my surgery - didn't do its job. The next thing I know I am laying on the cold garage floor at 2:30 in the morning. There are two steps down into the garage from the kitchen and as I was stepping down my left food did one thing while the rest of me did another and all my weight shifted to my right foot as it turned and I went down. It is very much sprained and cannot bear weight. I’ve had it wrapped, elevated, and iced throughout the day.

A couple days ago a package arrived for me from Jimmy Beans Wool. Yep, Jimmy Beans = Knitters' Crack Dealer. It was a fantastic gift from Christy of a sock knitting basket!
The basket itself is fantastic. I've long wanted a Lantern Moon basket and this one matches my bedroom nicely. It also pops open like so...
The basket contained two balls of sock yarn made of 85% corn fiber - Maizy Crystal Palace Yarns in the colorway Neptune.
There is also a notions pouch, Crystal Palace size US 2 bamboo needles, and an Interweave book, Getting Started Knitting Socks by Ann Budd.
I’ve needed some knitting inspiration. Hopefully this will do just the trick and will help pass the time as I recoup.
