baby's first haircut

I really love living in the South. Expect for during July and August. And sometimes June. It has been so hot and humid and I knew I had to do something about the mass of curls and waves of furry sweetness that covered Derby's back. He went for his first haircut yesterday. I left him with the groomer for a few hours. I had a requested a classic cocker cut-or as LYLASarah calls it, "a dog mullet". When I returned to the groomer's and Derby came running down the hall I thought, "that's not my dog". He looks so different! And at first I was wondering what I had done to my baby. But I'm growing accustomed to it and I know he feels so much cooler. He looks like a big boy cocker spaniel now. And kind of like Falkor from The Neverending Story.

ahem, Just because Derby is all fancy now does not mean he should be on the living room couch. Oh, well for his first haircut, I guess it is okay. I hadn't said anything but he reminded me of falcour( or however you spell it from The Never Ending Story" too. Mom

aaaaaaawwwww. what a sweetie. a first haircut. he's adorable. and it's amazing he can stand any amount of hair on him in the summer. we get jakob the "marine" cut, which is everything shaved down to the smallest inch, but not bald. mine is a real panter. so to keep him quiet, we keep him cut short.
