oh crap, i'm stranded!

This week’s Oh Crap, I’m Stranded! disc is by my friend, Louis. I became friends with Louis through church, where he is the contemporary worship leader. I have known him for less than a year and during that time he has become very dear to me. I didn’t really know Louis very well last summer/fall when I was dealing with the back crap. Yet he asked if he could come to the hospital the day of my surgery to pray for me. And that’s just what he did. It means so much to me that he was there that day, often quietly (which is kind of an unusual state for Louis) sitting in the corner of the room praying. Since my surgery I am now able to endure standing longer and can be part of the worship team. Which means I’ve had the opportunity to develop a friendship with Louis. I love to hear him sing. But even more I love to hear him pray. He always, always says, “Lord, we love you.” Every time, either at the beginning or end of his prayer. I love this. I need to tell the Lord that I love Him more often, and Louis, by example, reminds me.

Louis’s pick: Billy Joel’s Greatest Hits

I have been a fan of Billy Joel's since I was old enough to listen to music. His music has always made me smile. This compilation is one of the very few, true "Greatest Hits" collections that I have found. It covers all his best music, including my favorite, "New York Sate of Mind". I am always in that state of mind, and it makes smile and think about my city.

Want to submit your own Oh Crap, I'm Stranded! disc? Read how here.

i believe that this is the album i listened to over and over again (on cassette tape) during the summer between my freshman and sophmore years of high school. i loved walking around my neighborhood for exercise, and i almost always had this tape playing in my walkman. love it!

i also have to admit that i played the beattles' Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds so many times the summer i got my drivers license that i am suprised it didn't melt. lots of good memories of cruising around in mom's mini van (with wood paneling, of course) . . . listening to LSD!
