I kind of want a poncho.
But I also think that ponchos are kind of “out”. I sort of blame Martha Stewart for wearing a poncho on the day of her release from Camp Cupcake. No, I blame her prison friend who crocheted her said poncho. And now the words of my dear friend Rhett, manager of Bamboo Boutique, ring loudly in my head. I mean he was even quoted in the Nashville Scene in regards to the poncho, “Once I see it in Gap Kids, it's over, honey.” Oh Rhettie. What do I do? You see I read about Knit & Tonic Wendy’s fabulous kpixie allhemp6 cool hemp ponchette (see Fig. a below). It’s so cute Rhett! Look at it. I want to knit one! I want to wear one! But will I look like a hippo wearing a tee pee? No, I don’t think this is like the time I told you and LYLASarah that I wanted to wear overalls. I think this is a very different situation.
There for a while I was considering the Suss Design Open Knit Poncho (Fig. b) and the Fantasy Poncho (Fig. c). I ask myself if I were not a knitter would I want to wear a poncho? Probably not. But seeing as how I can fashion a poncho with my own two hands and some sticks…well…I want one Rhettie. Will I be dead to you if I wear a poncho?

the ponchette still has an air of freshness about it. Say no to fringe!
i feel like the first poncho is more like a shrug or one of those off the shouleder shirts that are coming back in (damn that sarah jessica parker for bringing the 80's back). i like it.
or do a poncho with a hoodie . . . start your own trend.
the other two . . . not so much. definately not fringe.
and i say, if you want to wear overalls, by golly, do it. I was saddened the other day when i realized nobody sports the 'veralls anymore.
I like that ponchette! I say do it!
(Also, I got a big kick out of that "I knit with Grey's" button. That episode was great!)
