ten on tuesday: 10 underrated movies

1) Signs (2002)
This is my favorite M. Night Shyamalan movie. Some people may try to tell you this is a movie about aliens. But I will tell you this is a story of faith.

2) The Village (2004)
I really don’t understand why more people didn’t see the beauty of this movie. Perhaps they were just expecting another Sixth Sense?

3) Lady in the Water (2006)
I may have been the only person who liked this movie. But I made up for that with The Happening…I found that movie to be so very disappointing.4) Donnie Darko (2001)
There’s a reason this is a cult classic.

5) The Visitor (2008)
This movie took me on journey and challenged me. It received a best actor nod, but other than that I didn’t see much buzz about it.

6) Requiem for a Dream (2000)
This is not an easy movie to watch. There are reasons for its original NC-17 rating. On those grounds I can't broadly recommend this movie. But it is haunting. It stayed with me for days; even years later its story of drug use, bad choices, and desperation remain with me.7) The Strangers (2008)
One of the best suspense/horror movies I’ve seen in years. I’m a fan of subtlety.

8) Rushmore (1998)
“O.R. they?”

9) The Mission (1986)
A story of faith and grace – with an excellent & haunting musical score.

10) Defiance (2008)
Everyone should see this movie and know its true story.

This is a good 10 on Tues. I think I would add "Dark City".

Also...I think the only movie by Shyamalan that was truly underrated by actual film critics was "Unbreakable".
