10 on tuesday: 10 things to do when it's too hot to go outside

  1. Take a nap in front of an air conditioning vent.
  2. Knit something. Like a cotton beach towel.
  3. Read a book, maybe Dr. Zhivago? Read a magazine. Read a blog. Read the Upper Room.
  4. Watch a movie. Or a marathon of a reality TV show like Ice Road Truckers.
  5. Clean your make-up brushes.
  6. Write a letter to your best friend. Include a short story about your fantasy trip to Alaska in which you and your BFF are taught a secret recipe for snow cream handed down for generations by a family of Eskimos.
  7. Play a game, like Mexican Train Dominoes. Or Solitaire (with an actual, tangible deck of cards) if you can't get someone to play Mexican Train Dominoes with you.
  8. Window shop on-line.
  9. Watch a recording of an Indy 500 of yore and see if the outcome is different the second time around.
  10. Organize things. Like your yarn, your books, your recordings of Indy Car races, or your recipe box.
