the portion of the disc that is herniated is removed.One step at a time. After 3 years of dealing with this situation I have decided to have the surgery (I’m projecting mid-October). Now, I must pick a surgeon. Both seem very qualified and knowledgeable and have good records and recommendations. So, which do I pick? Flip a coin? Ask them to pick a number between 1 and 10? Ask them to submit a written essay? This is the biggest decision I have ever had to make in my life (aside from accepting Jesus). And all I really know to do is to pray about it. Will you pray, too? Pray for me to hear God and have wisdom and clarity.
I think all the stress and magnitude of this hit me this morning and I had a good cry. Then I found comfort in Psalm 3 (from The Message translation)
Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
He’s the one who will keep you on track.
Don’t assume that you know it all.
Run to God! Run from evil!
Your body will glow with health,
Your very bones will vibrate with life!
Honor God with everything you own;
Give Him the first and the best.

I am praying for you and will be for the rest of this process. I'm sure you'll make the best choice for you.
