A few years ago my brother inherited a husky who was rescued in Memphis, TN. Shortly after that he adopted another husky named Keyara. Now the Coomer family is reunited under one roof and
Memphis and
Keyara probably spend more time with me than with Stephen. It’s taken us a while to get use to the way of the husky after having an
English Cocker Spaniel for 13 years. Huskies can be a little jumpy and a little ADD. But they’re becoming a little more social with their humans as times passes. Amazingly the aloof one, Keyara, has really taken a liking to me. She loves to sneak into my room when no ones looking. The other day she gave me a big husky howl (“oooooooowwwoooowwoooo”) when she was excited to see me. Then she ran head on with fur flying. So precious.

On Saturday I thought that it would be a good idea for
*ME* to give this beast a bath. Of all the people living in our house I thought the girl with the broke-down-back was the one to give that fur ball bear of a husky doodle a bath. Of course my mother wasn’t home. Because you know if she had been home it never would have happened. Because she would have forbade it. Because she would have known that it was a bad bad stupid idea. Most dogs don’t like baths. And Key is about 40% fur. And she’s shedding. It was not a quick process. I had to hold her between my knees. I had to block her left and right. I had to unplug the drain of fur about 10 times. I had to bend over. I had to tug. I had to wrestle. I had to catch back paws as the front ones went over the side of the tub. No, if my mother had been home I would have been told it was a v. v. bad idea. But Mom wasn’t home. Dad was. And Dad pulled up the bathmat for me and got me some towels. I am like my dad in many ways. He has had two hernia surgeries and walks with a cane. Yet rearranges entire rooms of furniture while my mother is at Kroger. This is a learned behavior. And bless my mother. Bless her for all the times she’s heard, “Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time." But Mom didn't scold. She simply said, "I hope you didn't hurt yourself." Then turned to the dog and say, "Keyara, did you tell Jennifer thank you?"

AWWWWWWWWWWW!
:) Too funny. I love your parents!
I love my parents, too. Aren't they the best?
To give Memphy equal time Mom has found that using a simple plastic comb is working well on their shedding fur. And Memphis thinks he's really something after he's been combed.
