And here is the what from my visit with Dr. Mayorquin. We talked about how I’ve taken a few steps back (no pun intended) in my progress with my back. I’m having a lot of sciatic pain, which makes it hard to be comfortable and concentrate at work and makes it hard to stay asleep at night. There is pain from my low back down to my left foot from my sciatic nerve being impinged by a herniated disc. It hurts to walk sometimes. But it also hurts to stand still, sit still, and lay still. If you wonder, yes, I do get tired of hearing myself talk about this stuff. But, anyhow…Dr. Mayorquin said that he sensed that I was ready to try something new. At first I disgreed with him in my head. Then I realized he was right. I think I am ready to explore something knew. He wants me to see a neurosurgeon. *gulp* A neuro- (meaning brain, spine, nerves) –surgeon (meaning someone who does surgery). Yes, that does kind of freak me out and make me feel a little faint. But that could also be the Percoset. At the same time I am curious. I want to have an open mind. This could be an answer. It could be the answer. I know many people are praying for my healing. I’ve been reading up about various surgeries that are common for lumbar disc problems and some of them aren’t totally scary. Some don’t involve moving your organs around and messing with your spine all that much. Of course Dr. Ray’s opinion will weigh very heavily in any decisions I make about surgery and the care of my spine. I have an appointment with Dr. Timothy Schoettle on September 7th. If Dr. Schoettle would like to do surgery I hope he is willing to speak to Dr. Ray or he will not be geting anywhere near me with any instrument made for cutting. Not even blunt nosed kindergarten scissors.

I hope everything works out for the best. And if surgery IS the best option I would strongly encourage you to avoid any surgeon who uses blunt nosed kindergarten scissors. :)
Here's hoping for the best--whatever that may be.
Good luck!
