Mom was a trooper the whole weekend and seemed to really enjoy herself. I
think Mom had a great time in Indy – but it was a lot to take in. She said she felt like she was on an
Emmaus Walk and was just trying to go with the flow even though she didn’t always know what was going on. I tried to put myself in her position and remember was it like at my first 500 or my first Indy Series race. Mom said she was truly amazed by just how fast the cars go and how you have no true concept of their speed when you’re watching a race on TV. At the start of the race I kind of missed that feeling of being astonished by just how fast those cars go. I mean every time I see them in a person I’m reminded of their speed. But some of the buzz has worn off now that I’m a little more of a veteran. That kind of made me sad.
