life as of today

I have been really pleased to find that my daily inter-state commute is not so bad. I actually kind of enjoy the morning ride. It’s a chance to spend some quiet time with God and with me. And with my radio boyfriend Glenn Beck. The evening ride goes fairly smoothly, too. I need to scour the libraries stock of books on CD. One day I listened to a sermon from my BG Senior Pastor (I’m multi-churchal now) and it seemed like I was to the state line in no time. If only I could knit & drive. If only...

Now that my dad is “retired” he needs his morning chores. Start the coffee. Take the dogs out. Get the newspapers. Check on the current state of the world. I think he times himself. Now he’s incorporated my routine into his morning agenda. I have a travel mug of coffee ready to go (in exchange I hear how I ruin his coffee buy adding a little bit of milk) and my car windows are rolled down (unless it’s raining). He sets out a cereal bowl, mug, and tea bag for my mom, too. The man takes care of his family.

Current Obsessions
1. Crazy by Gnarls Barkley. It’s the first song I listen to in the morning.
2. Dishcloth cotton yarn. Endless color combinations.
3. Flavored Dr. Peppers. Dr. Pepper has always been my favorite soft drink…or as my people say “coke”…Or as my dad says, “cold drink”. He also calls I-65 “The Four-Lane”.

DAD: Are you going to take the four lane?
ME: Yes, I figured that would be the quickest way to get there. But I always get a little confused around E-town because there are actually eight lanes there. Should I get off I-65 at that point?
DAD: Just remember, there’s a United Methodist Church in every town.
ME: Thanks Daddy. Could you hand me a cold drink for the road?

What a great post! Incidentally, several of my relatives in Franklinton call cokes "cold dranks" too. Most of these relatives do not drive on an interstate or anything else that has four lanes, so I can't say for sure about that one :) But I always like hearing somebody ask whether I want a cold drink.

I'm sure he's glad to have you around!

One time Dad told Eric that there were "cold drinks" under the sink. Of course being under the sink they were not "cold". Eric literaly fell down on the kitchen floor laughing. I think Eric likes to fall down.
