For years my mother and I have uttered the statement, “We really need to sew!!!” after many a failed shopping trip. My grandmother sewed, crocheted, and quilted. She would even sew tiny clothes for my Barbie dolls. But my mother and I both suffer from the same ailment. We are Bobbinly Challenged. I blame her because I think it’s something passed on from mother to daughter. Evidently she never took the time to have Grandma teach her the proper way to thread a sewing machine bobbin when she had the chance. And now both of us would like to sew more but we have fits of frustration over the bobbin. I even took Home Ec my freshman year of high school. I sewed a jumper. It was 2-3 sizes too big. Mom said she’d fix it. It remained in a box with all her other semi- and un- sewn fabrics. Maybe now that I’m moving home we can figure it out together and overcome our sewing inadequacies. And my mother can use actual needle and thread on her window treatments instead of masking tape. Although that masking tape trick works really really well on the right valance.I use to wear dresses a lot more than I do know. Now I do skirt/top combos. I just don’t have much luck finding dresses that a) I like b) fit in a flattering way. This is a good reason to sew. Another reason is fabulous dress patterns. I especially love the Vogue Vintage.
I so admired Molly Ringwald’s Andie Walsh in Pretty in Pink for designing and sewing her own clothes including her prom dress. (Speaking of which…this girl knit her prom dress using a pattern from knit.1) It’s time to sew up some dresses and befriend a boy named Duckie.
Don't call it a comeback I've been here for years I'm rocking my peers

I needed a little break. I decided not to apologize for it, but just DO IT.
So...I just did it. Now I think I am ready for some makeup + beauty product
