the calm after the storm

Things got interesting around here on Friday. Mid-Tenn was hit with some very serious severe weather. I’m still a little skittish from the tornado that hit downtown Nashville in April 1998. Since that time my company has formed a Safety Committee and we now have plans, guidelines, drills, roll call, et cetera. On Friday we were asked to go to our designated “shelter” places due to a tornado watch in the downtown area. Surrounding areas were hit with several tornados. Warren and Sumner Counties especially. (see my cousin’s post, Stormy Weather, about his wife's experience in Gallatin). In aerial views some of the homes in that area now look like piles of splinters or garbage bags that have been shredded by dogs. It’s heartbreaking.

On Saturday I noticed little piles of leaves and twigs on the second floor balcony area outside of my door. At first I thought some birds had been busy nest building. Then I realized it was the work of some heavy winds.

I tell you where I don’t want to be right now. Cracker Barrell. They have all those farm implements hanging over your head.
