I guess I wouldn’t have to be a man. But when I think of the people in my life who approach 7’
they're generally men. I'd just like to be able to see over the heads of people who bop and groove to music and block my view. FEIST played at Grimey’s Records today during my lunch break. So my friend, Laurel, and I tried to cram in around all the new and “lovingly used” cds with about...oh, I don’t know...another 100 people. I may be way off because I’m generally bad at math. Let’s see...there were like 10 people around us so multiply that by other areas that held roughly the same number...and...100 may not be far off. Okay, let’s say 80. The point being that it was crowded and hot. Some people were putting off extra body heat because they were wearing hoodies, hats, and
scarves in our wack-a-doo 55 degree Tennessee winter (They say it could snow tomorrow. Whatever. You always get my hopes up Nancy van Camp. You’re such a tease.) Basically, we were able to hear Feist and kind of see one of her ears and part of her bangs and the heat of her guitar during most of the set. Towards the end I just started taking random pictures hoping that she might end up being in the picture. And I took a picture of this guy’s knitted hat because I thought it was cool. Laurel must be nicer than me because when guy that looked he had put shocks of Electric Blue Manic Panic in his hair with a children’s paint brush squeezed around us to get a better view I
was thinking, “Kill, kill, kill”. But sweet little Laurel turned to me and said, “I kind of like his scarf.” It was defiantly hand knit and I think it was probably in Lion Brand green heather Wool-Ease. Feist did a song I have never heard, Gatekeeper, Mushaboom, and Secret Heart. I’m trying not to think about the fact that her show at The Belcourt is sold out tonight and I sit here ticket less. Jason Collet is opening for her tonight and he played a few songs at Grimey’s this afternoon. Feist played the drums on his last song. I was able to get a picture of that and I like to pretend that she was looking right at me...
